I wish I could be certain: that changing jobs is the right choice (spoiler alert: it was!), that going for a PhD is a smart decision (applications are in...so we shall see), that you're the right person to make my life with (only time will tell). But life is uncertain. It doesn't come with guarantees. Usually I embrace this, mostly when I feel others are striving for such an unattainable thing. I self-righteously point out the flaw that is asking the universe to tell us where we're headed. So much harder to subscribe to this truth when I'm the one facing the uncertainties. Besides, really, I don't want to know. I'd never have ventured many of the risks I've taken, if I knew they ended in pain or heartbreak. And a life like that would lack most of its experience, emotion, feeling. A life devoid of the color and flavor that makes it worth living. Odd when you consider it: the unknown, the fear, the questions, the fucking uncertainty... ...
